At a time when the world is faced with religious antagonism, one yearns to find spiritual meaning that would lead to a better understanding of different faiths and ways of life.
In an endeavour to highlight one of the most fundamental and positive aspects of tourism, that is cultural integration, we have planned a special promotion tour on Sufism in Spring 2009.
This mystical aspect, an esoteric origin from Islam, focuses on spiritual meaning, the confluence of cultures and communities and the eternal search for the ultimate truth of merging with the Supreme Being.
Each individual "spark" or "spirit" separated from the Universal Spirit, desires to return and reunite with It. This "reuniting" is vital and central to the Sufi doctrine. The Sufi embarks on a spiritual journey known as the Sufi Path; a path of devotion and love, which leads to none other than God Himself.
One can trace the history of Sufism from Saudi Arabia, into Iraq, Iran, Central Asia and finally to the Indian subcontinent, including present day Pakistan.
As a first part of the spiritual journey, we shall follow in the footsteps of some of the Sufi saints who lived in India. Exploring through architectural history, poetry and music, we intend to make this journey an extraordinary experience for you.
We are honoured to have Mr Raficq Abdulla as an accompanying lecturer on this tour. He will, no doubt, with his knowledge, insight and passion for Sufism, be pivotal in enhancing the quality of your experience
